New appointments

Margot Wallström newly responsible for the reconstruction of Ukraine

Margot Wallström and President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Chief of Staff will be among those responsible for leading the reconstruction of Ukraine. Margot Wallström has served as Foreign Minister and UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict.

Johan Ndisi, new special envoy for Afghanistan

Johan Ndisi is the new Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Head of Mission at the Swedish Embassy in Kabul. For the time being, the Embassy’s operations are based in Stockholm. Mr. Ndisi is currently Deputy Head of the Africa Unit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was previously Ambassador in Tirana and served at the Embassy in Harare and the Swedish EU Representation in Brussels. He has also been Deputy Head of the Communications Unit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Per Lindgärde new ambassador to Zimbabwe

Per Lindgärde is currently Ambassador in Mogadishu. He has previously been ambassador in Kampala and Abuja and served at the embassies in Nairobi and Addis Ababa and the Swedish representation in Geneva. He has also worked as a Special Advisor for the Horn of Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as the UN Secretary General’s Deputy Envoy for Somalia.

Mathias Otterstedt new ambassador to Iran

Mathias Otterstedt is currently Head of the Security Unit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has previously served at the embassies in Islamabad and Washington.

Mattias Brunander new Secretary General of Diakonia

Mattias Brunander has worked in the aid organization’s regional office in San Salvador and held many other positions at headquarters and in the regional offices in Chiang Mai and Bogotá.
