Support for Ukraine is strong in most EU countries, but in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, the situation is different – where many praise Russia. At the same time, there is a race for the world’s resources for green transformation, where the EU risks falling behind. What happens now?
How should the EU handle Russia’s and China’s growing influence in Africa, Asia, and Latin America? How credible is the EU in the fight for democracy and human rights when these very principles are increasingly restricted in countries like Poland and Hungary? And how should the issue of the EU’s aging population be addressed when countries refuse to admit the immigrants needed to do the job?
In 2024, there will be parliamentary elections in the EU. But much can happen before then.
Participants:
Evin Incir, Member of the European Parliament (s).
Andrés Rivarola, Professor at the Institute of Latin American Studies, Stockholm University.
Malena Liedholm Ndounou, Consultant and West Africa Expert.
After Work and book talks – Palestine, Southern Africa, Ukraine, Vietnam, and Brazil
Location: Studio SN7 (Stora Nygatan 7, Stockholm)
Time: 25/8 at 16.30–19.00.
